A diver over the reef, looking up toward the light

A letter

Hello. I am Angger.

Portrait to come — placeholder from the reef

The short version

I am Angger, Indonesian, a certified scuba instructor, and the founder of Asetiti. I live in Tabanan, Bali. Every route on this site I have sailed first, and when you write to Asetiti it is me who answers. Years in the water, where you trained, and the seas you have worked — to confirm.

The name

Setiti

In Javanese, setiti is meticulous care — the habit of noticing. It sits with two older words: gemi, to treat what you have as precious, and ngati-ati, to go carefully. It is how my grandmother ran a household. It is how I run a boat.

What I believe

You are not buying a boat.

You are buying the judgement of the person who plans the week: which sea in which month, which reef at first light, which village you are introduced to rather than shown, when to leave the plan alone. None of that is on a price list. It lives in the people who have done it many times.

So I would rather you came to know me before you came to know the cabins. If you trust how I think, the rest — the boat, the route, the land days — I will get right.

Things I know

A few honest ones.

  • Raja Ampat has a wrong month. Most charters will sell it to you anyway.
  • The dugongs of Alor are a morning animal. Plan the day around them, not the other way round.
  • In Banda the forts are better at dusk than any sunset cruise.
  • The best night of any charter is the one nobody planned.
  • A crew who grew up on these seas is worth more than any cabin upgrade.

The longer versions are in the journal, as I write them.

Membership

An advisor, not an agent.

Agents sell what they are given. I work the other way round: I come to know you, then I go and find — or build — the trip. Asetiti is a small membership of travellers I look after year after year, on the water and, increasingly, on land.

Membership is by introduction. For first-time clients the membership fee is waived — your first charter is how we get to know each other.

How I work

  1. 01

    Tell me what you love

When, who is coming, what a good day looks like to you. A few honest lines or a call is enough.

  2. 02

    I draw the route

Around your season and your pace — the sea, the boat, the guides and the land days that fit. If the month is wrong, I will say so.

  3. 03

One or two proposals within 48 hours

Considered, not a menu. We refine together until it is yours.
